Community Programs

Our community-based initiatives aim to keep women “heart healthy” through sustainable, systemic health behavior change. We provide gender-appropriate health promotion and research-driven preventive outreach. We seek to decrease health disparities and focus on women at higher risk for cardiovascular disease.

  • General outreach consists of broad-based programs in the community aimed at changing health-related behaviors to prevent heart disease in women. In-person programs are provided to groups, often in the workplace. Digital (on-line) programs reach individuals in their own home or workplace. Many programs involve training women as trainers to maximize the impact of Center’s small, highly trained professional staff.  Programs include health literacy, food literacy, digital literacy, diabetes prevention, and group-coaching interventions.

  • Outreach to the Arab Community consists of programs promoting behavioral change and prevention among Arab women as well as resilience and leadership development training for broader impact in the community. Programs are adapted and tailored to the cultural, social and environmental needs of the community.

  • Outreach to the Haredi Community is through culturally adapted health promotion programs that take into account the Haredi lifestyle and the family and social obligations and economic challenges facing Haredi women. Haredi sector programs for women have been implemented in conjunction with the Bishvilaych organization, which has facilitated entry in this community.
