Women and Heart Disease
For years, heart disease was known as a "man's illness," while in reality heart disease causes 1 in 3 women's deaths each year globally.
The symptoms of heart disease can be different in women versus men, and are often misunderstood. Women also tend to develop heart disease 10 years later than men, but younger women, especially diabetics, are at higher risk.
Even if you have a strong family history of heart disease, there is plenty you can do to reduce your personal risk.
